Fearing God has gotten such a bad wrap. Like God is only a soft spoken light tap on the hand type of God. This same God flipped over tables, drowned soldiers in the Red Sea, rose the dead to life, and so much more. We need to heed this warning . God is not a play thing and Jesus is soon to return.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Proverbs 1:7 ESV
And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
Matthew 10:28 ESV
Blessed is the one who fears the Lord always, but whoever hardens his heart will fall into calamity.
Proverbs 28:14 ESV
A crazy video
Comedian Heather McDonald, 51,collapses just moments after saying she is vaccinated, boosted, and still has her period, proclaiming that she still hasn’t contracted Covid and that “clearly, Jesus loves me the most. Seriously. So nice, so nice.” The next moment she stumbles, rolls her eyes and falls unconscious, hitting her head on the stage floor. The audience can be heard laughing as apparently everyone assumed it was all part of the act.
“I’ve never, ever fainted in my life.” She states.
This video struck a cord in my heart, and I had to share.
God is so merciful to let her make it through this experience. She was openly mocking God. She has a fractured skull and many bruises.
The Word of God warns against bearing false witness as well which brings me to todays portion of scripture.
Aninias and saphrrius
But a man named Ananias, with his wife Sapphira, sold a piece of property, and with his wife’s knowledge he kept back for himself some of the proceeds and brought only a part of it and laid it at the apostles’ feet. But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? Why is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to man but to God.” When Ananias heard these words, he fell down and breathed his last. And great fear came upon all who heard of it. The young men rose and wrapped him up and carried him out and buried him. After an interval of about three hours his wife came in, not knowing what had happened. And Peter said to her, “Tell me whether you sold the land for so much.” And she said, “Yes, for so much.” But Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Behold, the feet of those who have buried your husband are at the door, and they will carry you out.” Immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. When the young men came in they found her dead, and they carried her out and buried her beside her husband. And great fear came upon the whole church and upon all who heard of these things.
Acts 5:1-11 ESV
It used be a time where there was an unspoken respect for the things of God. Certain things were just unacceptable in and around the church. Secular Music wasn’t played, there was a willingness to preserve the sanctity of the house of the Lord, and their was more emphasis put on preaching instead of entertainment.
We as women of God have to remember that we can not allow the world to soften our hearts toward God. We serve the only one truly and living God and as loving as He is He can not change His truth to be more palatable. So we shouldn’t either. The Bible says in Hebrews chapter 4:12- For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12 ESV
Let’s check ourselves and make sure we are honoring God above all else.
